New Ghost Stories Podcast 7 - After the Flood

You can listen and download the New Ghost Stories Podcast from a number of platforms.

Christmas can be a tough time of year for many. As I write this, the festive plans of millions of people across the UK have been turned upside down. I myself won’t now be able to spend Christmas with my family for the first time. It’s a sad end to a year which has already taken away so much we would normally take for granted.

After the Flood dates from much earlier than 2020, but shares a sense of unravelling and uncertainty. It’s about someone who has lost a great deal, and who risks losing even more. With an uncertain future, they reach back and rekindle the most unlikely of friendships, in the vain hope of re-writing the past and saving their future.

It’s an extraordinary story, but not on the surface a terribly cheery one for a Christmas already full of unfortunate compromises. But though the end is ambiguous (or maybe not so if you think about it) there’s cause to feel optimistic too. We are resilient creatures. We can work through our problems. We can come out the other end better and stronger.

These dark times will not last. Even though I won’t be able to see my family this year, I will be spending Christmas with someone very special. I am still in many ways very lucky; I have much to be thankful for.

I’d like to thank you for listening to the podcast and to wish you a Merry Christmas and a safer, more predictable, more prosperous New Year.

New Ghost Stories Volume 3 is out in 2021. You can read a sample story here and check out previous volumes here.

Hear witness accounts of the supernatural. Author David Paul Nixon has spent almost a decade travelling Great Britain and collecting lost ghost stories that have never been told before. Are these stories of madness, lies, or self-deception? Or could they be the real thing? The only way to find out, is to listen.
